MARK 10 MINISTRY
Mission Statement
Currently there are 80 children in the Mark 10 Ministry and the children were divided into 2 groups:
1) Cherubims are children ages 4 - 7
2) Seraphims are children ages 8 - 11
The Friday Program for Cherubims and Seraphims consists of:
1) Saying of the Rosary
2) Story of Saints (told by a child)
3) Worship
4) Activities in line with the Gospel reading for the coming Sunday
In addition to the above teachings, both groups have activities each month that build and reinforce
positive character traits such as:
> attentiveness
> honesty
> thankfulness
> respect
> kindness
> patience
> obedience
> dependability
> self-control
> perseverance
> courage
Throughout the year Mark 10 special activities are as follows:
* Nursing Home Visitation
Where the children sings songs and play their musical instruments to entertain the elderly and the adults share
the Good News and glorify the Lord in their lives.
* John 6 and Mark 10 Healing Mass Sponsorship:
Children serves as Praise, Readers, Altar Servers, Intercessors, Ushers,etc. in one of the community's Healing Mass.
* The Mark 10 Annual Picnic/Field Trip:
Children are given the opportunity to be with their BLD friends, spend quality time with their parents and at the same give
the children the chance to see the beauty of God's creation that surrounds them.
* Cherubims and Seraphims Parade of Saints:
In lieu of Halloween, this program teaches the children that the Feast of Saints and All Souls Day is a celebration of the
works of Saints. The children get to dress like their favorate saints. They have to study and learn about the lives of the
saint they are representing, teaching them the ways of Christian living and at the same time providing them good role
models to look up to.
* Christmas Presentation (December):
The children of Mark 10 presents a christmas program for the BLD community to celebrate the birth of our Lord
as well as in a Newark Nursing Home as their service to our Lord to bring happiness to those who are lonely.
* A project of John 6 and Mark 10 kids "Hands United in God's Service" (HUGS):
The children collect used bedsheets, blankets, towels, clothes and donations of tylenol, aspirin, bacitracin, toothbrushes
from their families, friends and the BLD community which they send to the poor families in the mountains of Antique,
Philippines. These are sent through in "balikbayan boxes" .
The John 6 ministry initiated the "HUGS - Educate a child" program where they collect money from each other each Friday
so they can sponsor a child to send to school. The money may be used to pay for a child's tuition fees or for books,
transportation expenses & or lunch money. They have been able to sponsor children in previous school years by
God's grace and additional children are being sponsored by members of the Mark 10 Ministry.
Recipient families have written to expressed their heartfelt thanks to the children and were deeply touched by the
children's generosity.

- Affirm and uplift the children and help them know that they are God's gift to their family and community.
- Help the children develop a personal relationship with our Lord.
- Help them utilize their talent in service to others and raise them as prayer warriors for family, community and Church in response to God's call.
- Assist the children to know, understand, value and live our Roman Catholic faith.
- Help the children lead a Christian life and be a witness to their family, school, parish, and community.

- Every Friday each group has simultaneous worship in their own groups and have their own prayer leader. Included in their Worship are the coming Sunday readings. The only difference between the worship format for the Cherubims and Seraphims is that Cherubims' worship is shorter and uses ACTS (Adoration/Contrition/Thanksgiving and Supplication prayers) while the Seraphims' worship has Peace and Invocation of Holy Spirit prayers included in their worship format.
- The formation program created for the Cherubims and Seraphims is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The teaching syllabus is 15 minutes for the Cherubims and 20 minutes for the Seraphims. They are taught according to their level of comprehension:
